Abu Rafi' رضي الله عنه
Freed for Good News
Al-'Abbas stayed in Makkah for years and did not show his Islam openly. The biographers report that when Abu Rafi' brought the Prophet ﷺ the good news that al-'Abbas had accepted Islam, the Prophet ﷺ was so pleased that he set Abu Rafi' free.
They also report that the Prophet ﷺ married him to Salma, a woman who served in the Prophet's ﷺ household. Their son 'Ubaydullah would later become a well-known narrator.
Good news about someone's faith is worth more than any wealth, and the Prophet ﷺ rewarded it generously.
When did good news about someone else's faith last make you truly happy?
