Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the things people ask most. If yours is not here, please write to us.
What is IsNoor?
IsNoor is a calm, daily companion for learning Islam. Each day you get a short reading from the Qur'an and the sunnah, one thing to carry with you, and a quiet place to reflect. There are also longer paths: the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ, the lives of the Companions, and the basics of worship.
Is it free?
Yes. There are no ads and no paywall, and we do not sell your data.
Who is it for?
For Muslims who want a steady daily habit, for people who are new to Islam or returning to it, and for the curious who simply want to understand. You tell us where you are when you sign up, and the depth of what you read adjusts to you.
Where does the content come from?
The Qur'an and authentic hadith are the foundation. Seerah and Companion stories come from classical sources such as Ibn Ishaq, Ibn Sa'd and al-Tabari. The structure of the Seerah and Sahaba paths follows Yasir Qadhi's lecture series, while the text itself is written from the classical sources.
What do the hadith grades mean?
Scholars of hadith grade a report by how reliable its chain of narrators and its text are. Sahih means authentic. Hasan means good, and is also accepted as evidence. Da'if means weak, and mawdu' means fabricated. Everything in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim is treated as sahih. For other collections we show the verdict of named graders, with Shaykh al-Albani's first, and where we do not have a grade we say so rather than guess.
Why does it show the four madhhabs, and what does "3 of 4 schools agree" mean?
Where scholars of the four Sunni schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali) differ on a ruling, we show what each school holds so you can see the whole picture. The line "3 of 4 schools agree" is a simple count of how many hold the same view. We only show this where a ruling exists, and we never guess a school's position.
What do the learner levels do?
Beginner shows you the essentials and keeps each page short. Intermediate and Advanced add more context, sources and scholarly detail. At any level you can choose "Show the full story" to see everything on a page. You can change your level at any time in Settings.
Which languages are available?
English, Arabic, Spanish, French and Urdu. The translations were drafted with AI assistance and are being reviewed by native speakers, so you may still find rough edges. Qur'an quotes are always shown in Arabic with a translation.
Is IsNoor a fatwa service?
No. IsNoor is for learning and reflection. It is not a source of personal rulings and is no substitute for a qualified scholar. If you have a question about your own situation, please ask a scholar you trust in your community.
Are my reflections private?
Yes. Reflections you write are shown only to you. We do not publish them or share them with anyone.
Will IsNoor send me reminders or notifications?
No. We send no reminder emails and no push notifications, and that is deliberate. IsNoor should be something you come back to calmly, not something that pulls at you. The only emails we send are ones you ask for, such as a password reset.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the sign-in page, choose "Forgot password?" and enter your email. We will send you a link that works for one hour.
Do I need an account?
No. Anyone can read everything on IsNoor without signing up. An account is only needed to save your progress, write private reflections and keep saved insights. Anyone under 18 needs a parent's or guardian's consent to create one.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings, open Account and choose "Delete my account". After you confirm with your password, your account and everything linked to it (saved insights, reflections, progress and preferences) are deleted immediately.
How do I contact you?
