Methodology

How IsNoor makes what you read, and how honest we are about its limits.

Sources

Qur’an. The Arabic is the Uthmani text. Translations are published ones: English in the style of Saheeh International, Spanish by Noor International, French by Hamidullah, and Urdu by Junagarhi.

Hadith. We draw from the six canonical books and other collections, and we give the collection and number so you can look it up.

Seerah and Companions. Stories come from classical biographies: Ibn Ishaq as transmitted by Ibn Hisham, Ibn Sa’d, and al-Tabari. The structure of the Seerah and Sahaba paths follows Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah and Sahaba lecture series, while the text itself is written from the classical sources.

Hadith grades

Every hadith shows how reliable it is, in the way its source gives it.

  • Reports in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are marked sahih.
  • Reports from the Sunan collections show each grader’s verdict, with Shaykh al-Albani’s first.
  • Reports from biographies are marked historical report. They are history, not hadith grading.
  • When we do not have a grade, we say “grade not recorded here” rather than guess.

See the glossary for what sahih, hasan, da’if and mawdu’ mean.

Madhhab differences

We show differences between the four Sunni schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i and Hanbali) only where a ruling exists. We show which school holds which view, and we never guess a school’s position.

A tally line such as “3 of 4 schools agree” counts how many schools hold the same view. It is a summary to help you see the picture, not a verdict.

Learner levels

Beginner shows the essentials, kept short and clear. Intermediate adds context and sources. Advanced adds scholarly detail, such as differences of opinion. At any level you can choose “Show the full story” to open everything on a page. You can change your level in Settings whenever you like.

Translations

The interface and the content are available in five languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, French and Urdu. The translations were drafted with AI assistance and are being reviewed by native speakers, so some may still need polishing.

“Allah” is kept as “Allah” in every language. Qur’an quotes are always shown in Arabic with a translation beside them.

Review process

We prepare content carefully from the sources above, and it is going through review by qualified scholars. That review is not finished. A named editorial board is not yet in place, and we will not claim one until it is.

Mistakes can happen. If you spot one, report it through the contact page and we will correct it. IsNoor is for learning and is not a source of personal rulings; for those, please ask a qualified scholar.
